Complete trainer handbook
Start your trainer, explore routes, win battles, manage your collection, conquer regional Leagues, and use every major game system.
Step one
After PokeBot is invited to a server, run /start or /pb start. The bot will guide you through creating a trainer and choosing the starter for your current regional journey.
| Command | Use |
|---|---|
/start | Create your trainer and choose a starter. |
/resume-start | Continue an interrupted starter selection. |
/profile | View your trainer profile and progress. |
/pb guide | Open the in-Discord illustrated guide. |
/pb help | Open a compact command directory. |
Run /route info to see where you are, /explore to search the area, and /team view to inspect your new starter.
The core loop
PokeBot is built around a connected RPG loop. Explore routes, battle and catch Pokémon, strengthen your party, earn money and items, complete story encounters, collect badges, defeat the League, and unlock the next regional journey.
Search routes for wild Pokémon, Trainers, items, story encounters, and special events.
Level Pokémon, learn moves, evolve species, equip held items, and organize your party.
Defeat rivals, villain teams, Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, Champions, and legendary encounters.
Trade securely with other players, challenge friendly duels, and climb the duel leaderboard.
Find your path
Locations form a connected travel graph. You normally move between directly connected, unlocked destinations. Badge gates and story progress can block routes until you meet their requirements.
/route info | Shows the current location, connections, encounters, requirements, and available actions. |
/route travel | Moves to a directly connected unlocked location. |
/route map | Displays a labelled regional map with progression information. |
/region map | Displays the current region and its travel graph. |
/explore | Searches for Pokémon, items, Trainers, or events. |
/wild | Searches specifically for a wild Pokémon. |
/trainer info | Lists Trainers that may spot you on the current route. |
Once destinations are discovered and the required travel method is available, use /fly map and /fly location. /teleport can return you to a discovered route when a party Pokémon knows Teleport.
Fishing uses route-specific encounter tables and your best available rod. Check /fishing info, view your rod with /rod, and start an encounter with /fish.
Expand your collection
Wild encounters are rolled for the current route. Each encounter keeps its shiny result for that encounter, so reopening controls does not reroll the Pokémon. Different Poké Balls can receive conditional catch modifiers depending on the target or situation.
/wild or /explore to find a Pokémon. The Master Ball is an extremely rare guaranteed-catch option. Save it for an encounter that truly matters.
Use /pokedex view for regional completion, /pokedex search for species information, and /pokesearch to find configured regional routes for a Pokémon.
Think before every turn
PokeBot uses turn-based battles with move priority, speed order, accuracy, evasion, critical hits, Same-Type Attack Bonus, type effectiveness, status effects, stat stages, residual damage, move PP, switching, items, fainting, experience, and level-ups.
Choose one of the active Pokémon’s available moves. PP, accuracy, type, power, priority, status, recharge, charge turns, pivoting, and other supported effects matter.
Change to a healthy eligible party member. When a Pokémon faints, choose a replacement before battle continues.
Use compatible medicine, battle items, and Poké Balls when the battle rules allow it.
Wild battles may allow escape. Formal battles may require /battle forfeit, which can reset the current challenge.
Use /battle resume if the active interaction panel is lost or Discord no longer shows the buttons. Use /battle forfeit only when you intend to abandon the battle.
Once the Elite Four run begins, normal healing, shopping, and leaving the League are restricted until the run ends by victory, defeat, or forfeit.
Manage your roster
Your active party contains up to six Pokémon. Extra catches are stored in PC boxes. Pokémon have individual records for level, EXP, HP, PP, IVs, EVs, nature, ability, gender, moves, held item, capture history, ownership, favourite status, lock status, and trade history.
/team view | Generate a six-slot team card with HP and EXP information. |
/team swap | Swap two party positions. |
/team lead | Move a Pokémon into the lead position. |
/pokemon info | Inspect a party Pokémon in detail. |
/pc view | Open a PC box. |
/pc deposit | Move a party Pokémon into storage. |
/pc withdraw | Move a stored Pokémon into an open party slot. |
/pc transfer | Transfer a Pokémon from another regional PC into the current region’s PC. |
Use /pb release or /pc release. Releases require confirmation and are blocked for protected favourites or locked Pokémon. A held item is returned safely when supported.
Prepare before the next battle
PokéCoins are used for Poké Balls, medicine, machines, evolution items, held items, Mega Stones, rods, and other regional supplies. Your normal bag and wallet are stored separately for each region.
/balance or /wallet | Check your current regional PokéCoin balance. |
/daily and /weekly | Claim timed trainer rewards. |
/bag or /inventory | Browse the current regional inventory. |
/shop view | Browse the Poké Mart by category and page. |
/shop search | Search the catalogue by item name. |
/buy and /sell | Purchase or sell permitted items. |
/item info | See an item’s effect, value, ownership, and use command. |
/item use | Use field items; quantity supports bulk use for suitable items. |
/helditem give | Equip an owned held item to a party Pokémon. |
/helditem remove | Return the held item to your bag. |
Use /heal at a valid Pokémon Centre. A blackout sends you to the appropriate nearby or League recovery location and restores the party.
Use /expshare status, /expshare on, and /expshare off after the feature is available.
Train with purpose
Pokémon gain experience according to their configured growth rate. Team cards, detailed Pokémon cards, and battle results display current EXP and progress toward the next level. Level 100 is shown as maximum level.
Level-up prompts let you replace an existing move. Pending decisions are saved so they can survive a restart. Use /learn moveinfo to inspect compatible moves and /learn move to teach eligible level-up or machine moves.
Machines are reusable where the game data permits. Compatibility is checked against the exact species and form.
Supported evolution methods include levels, items, friendship, trade-style requirements, held-item trade rules, and special conditions. Use /pokemon evolve to resume a pending evolution.
Use the learning and evolution resume commands rather than restarting your save. Pending choices are designed to be restart-safe.
Earn the title
Each regional campaign contains eight Gym challenges, an Elite Four gauntlet, a Champion, Hall of Fame records, story battles, and post-League legendary opportunities.
/gym info | View the next Gym, requirements, and Leader details. |
/gym challenge | Challenge the next unlocked Gym Leader. |
/badges | View the regional badge case. |
/elitefour challenge | Begin or continue the Elite Four run. |
/champion challenge | Challenge the Champion within the same League run. |
/halloffame | View saved championship records and teams. |
A new beginning in every generation
PokeBot includes Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and Paldea. Complete the active regional League and resolve the required legendary progression to unlock the next region.
Each region stores its own party, Pokémon collection, PC boxes, box names, ordinary items, PokéCoins, current location, and starter state. Global trainer records, key items, settings, statistics, Pokédex information, and Hall of Fame records can remain trainer-wide.
Transferred Pokémon remain collectible and manageable, but a Pokémon whose origin does not match the active region is excluded from that region’s battle party, lead selection, switching, and battle-item targets. This prevents a completed-region team from skipping the intended progression of a new journey.
Use /region travel to enter an unlocked region. /fly region is an alias. Returning to a visited region restores that region’s exact saved team, PC, bag, wallet, and location.
Unlock greater power
Mega Evolution requires a compatible Pokémon, the correct owned Mega Stone, and a valid Mega accessory such as the Mega Ring. Special supported forms include Charizard X and Y, Mega Greninja, Rayquaza, and Battle Bond Ash-Greninja.
/mega info | View compatible Mega or Battle Bond forms for a party Pokémon. |
/mega inventory | View owned Mega Stones and accessories. |
/mega equip | Equip an owned stone to a compatible party Pokémon. |
When all requirements are met, an in-battle Mega action becomes available under supported battle rules. Only the allowed transformation can be used in a battle.
Play together
Trades use private panels, selection and lock stages, a final confirmation, rollback protection, transaction files, and receipt IDs. Both players must confirm before ownership changes.
/trade request | Send a protected trade request. |
/trade accept | Accept the pending request and open the trade flow. |
/trade decline | Decline the request. |
/trade cancel | Cancel a pending or active trade. |
/trade history | View recent trade receipt IDs. |
Duels support singles, doubles, or trios team sizes with optional balancing. Move choices are made privately, battle HP and PP are isolated from the saved adventure state, and results are recorded.
Use /duel request, /duel accept, /duel rules, /duel history, and /duel leaderboard.
/duelpokebot challenge starts an unrestricted Level 100 boss encounter. Use /duelpokebot info to inspect the rules, reward, and all six boss builds before challenging it.
Rare encounters
Use /event mythical to search the current weekly event for its featured Mythical Pokémon. Event availability and encounter rules are shown in Discord.
Regional League clears earn legendary encounter opportunities. Use /legendary info to review earned encounters and /legendary battle to select or retry one.
Legendary encounters can maintain a shiny chain across eligible replays. League rematches may grant the next unresolved encounter without wiping an active chain.
Your progress is protected
PokeBot uses atomic JSON writes, per-player locks, rotating backups, schema migrations, validation, corruption recovery, and multi-player transaction rollback for trades.
/resume-start | Restore starter selection. |
/battle resume | Restore the current battle controls. |
/pokemon evolve | Continue a saved evolution prompt. |
/learn move | Continue or resolve move learning. |
/cooldowns | See when timed actions become available again. |
When no healthy Pokémon remain, the trainer is returned to an appropriate nearby Pokémon Centre without being moved forward past unfinished route progression. League defeats return the trainer to the League entrance. The party is automatically healed.
For Discord server owners
/pb about or /pb help to confirm commands are visible./start and this guide. The supplied invite URL currently requests Discord’s Administrator permission. Review the authorization screen carefully and only add bots you trust. A least-privilege invite can instead use View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History, and Use Application Commands when the hosted bot supports that configuration.
For public support, use /pb support or join the official support server.
Common questions
Use /start or /pb start. Use /resume-start if the starter flow was interrupted.
Regional battle restrictions keep each journey balanced. A Pokémon from a different origin region remains collectible but is excluded from the active region’s battle system.
Run /battle resume. The active battle must still exist in memory.
If your party was full, it was placed into the current region’s PC. Use /pc view.
Travel to a valid town or League entrance with a Pokémon Centre and use /heal. During an active Elite Four gauntlet, normal healing services are locked.
Yes. /item use supports a quantity option for suitable bulk-use field items, including supported candies and medicine.
Use /pokesearch to see configured regional locations, then travel there and use /wild or /explore.
